We're holding a draft tournament using the new Magic expansion set, Zendikar. I've got two sealed boxes (of the first print run!), so we can have 18 players max.

$16 gets you three packs, one prize pack for the winner's pool, and lands to borrow.

Swiss tournament format will be used, letting everyone play each round. Cut to top 4 will be used if necessary. The tournament winner will get packs instead of rare-drafting, so pick the cards you want. The number of players will determine the number of rounds and number of prize packs. "Lowest scoring player gets a pack" was a great idea from last time.

Old Bridge Deli changed ownership, so I'll investigate. Watch this space for updates Tue/Wed in case we need to change venues.

A draft is where a group of players open packs, carefully choose cards from them, and build a deck on the fly. The draft will be more casual than at local game shops. Players who are new to drafting are welcome, but we'll keep the pace up, so read up about the cards online in advance.

See you there!

We're holding a draft tournament using the new Magic expansion set, Zendikar. Released 10/2, this set is still hot off the presses. All-new cards, hot dual lands, insane Plainswalkers and the "Priceless Treasures" promotion. Check out these Zendikar drafting tips in the message board.

(update 10/9/09) $11 will get you three packs. Price may be up to $15 to allow for prize packs; to be determined. I will bring two boxes of packs, so at least 18 spots will be available. Basic lands will be available for use.

This meetup is a relaxed Saturday afternoon of casual constructed (decks you built at home) games. Bring your decks, new and old, to play Vintage, Legacy, Standard or whatever format you and an opponent agree on. We're also open to team games.

We have players of various skill levels, so if you're new or returning to the game, you can get coaching from experienced players. Bring your extra cards to trade with others (but, of course, keep an eye on them, since we're not responsible for loss).

The venue is upstairs at the Old Bridge Deli at the corner of Lexington and 41st, near Grand Central Station. Let's meet at 2:00pm and end at 6:00pm so we don't out stay our welcome. If you had a late breakfast, buy a late lunch there, or at least a drink, so we're not leaching off the space.

See you then!

We're holding a draft tournament on 9/12/09 at 2:00pm at Old Bridge Deli near Grand Central. The earlier start time will give us more time to finish the tournament. Casual games are also welcome, so bring your decks.

We're drafting M10, the newest core set. I've bought a box of packs so you each don't have to, and spare basic lands too.

$10 will get you three packs and all the basic lands you need.

What do you think about a prize? Check the Message Board to weigh in on an idea I had.

See you there!

The venue:
Old Bridge Deli at 373 Lexington Ave at 41st St. Kevin adds, "take the S train (shuttle) from 42nd St to Grand Central. Old Bridge is right across the street."

After the meet, I'm going to see my friend's rock band on the lower east side at 7:00pm. Everyone is welcome to join me.

Alright Meet-Up peeps, this is the mother-load. On October 4th, Magic will be releasing a brand new expansion called "Shards of Alara". Neutral Ground will be hosting a special "release event" for this new set. Players receive a free promo card and free booster pack just for playing in this event.

The event is "Sealed deck" meaning you build a deck out of 2 booster packs and 1 tournament pack, which is provided with your entry fee.

I know this isn't your typical Meet-Up casual good-ness, BUT - this is the ideal event for casual players. All the cards are BRAND NEW, so nobody really knows how to use them just yet. It's a "level" playing field. We have additional judges on hand to help players with rules and the like. Most important of all, this is probably the most fun you'll ever have playing Magic. Prereleases are kind of like the All-Star Games of sports, people you don't get to see often come play, the games are fun, and everyone goes home happy.

So with all that being said, come down and have fun! In addition to the free booster pack and promo card, because you're meet-up members you'll also receive a free pack of card protectors and deck box.

Finally, if you don't feel like spending money on the new cards, bring your own and look for a casual game... BUT BE WARNED. The game space will be packed to the brim so you might not find somewhere to play unless you are in the main prerelease event.

Alright guys, this month's event is similar to last month's but should be even more fun. We're doing a draft again except this month's will be with all rare cards. (If you don't know what a draft is check out last month's instructions.)

This is an open event, meaning Magic players not associated with out Meet-Up are invited, and will attend.

AS ALWAYS... if you don't want to participate in this actual "EVENT" you can still come down on the day of our Meet-Up and find some casual games with fellow Meet-Up guests.

Although the event begins @ 11am, we can use the space until 8pm. So come by anytime before that to find some games.

If you participate in the event @ 11am in which you will take home 45 rares guaranteed, and have the chance to win more prizes based on how well you do in the event, the cost will be $10.

If you just want to come down and play some casual games with your fellow Meet-Up members, the cost is only $2.00

Alright guys, I got some great news! Our next Meet-Up is right around the corner and is going to be a great format. The event is scheduled on the Neutral Ground calendar is an actual TOURNAMENT. But, this "TOURNAMENT" is a very casual format. For those that may not be familiar with the rules of this particular tournament, here is a quick run-down.

1. It's called a "Draft"
The object of a draft is to "draft" a deck using 3 packs of 15 cards each. Each player builds a 40 card MINIMUM deck, including basic land. Land is supplied. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DRAFT LAND.
2. All players open 1 pack at a time, pick ONLY 1 card out of the pack, and pass the rest of the pack to their left.
3. The player to the left will then pick up the pack and choose ONLY 1 card out of the pack, and pass the rest.
4. This will continue until there are no cards left in the pack and everyone has 15 cards in front of them.
5. Then everyone opens the 2nd pack and repeats the process, but this time pass to the right side.
6. Then everyone opens the 3rd pack and repeats the process.
7. Once everyone has their 45 cards, everyone spreads out to build their decks. Players build their decks by choosing the cards they want to play with it out of their 45 cards.
8. There is no trading cards with other players.
9. There is no trading cards in between or within packs.
10. As for game play, normal rules apply. Individual matches, best 2 out of 3 games.
11. In a tournament, any kind of tournament, there is normally 50 minutes per round. Each round players play a different opponent. Normally winners play winners as the rounds go on, and non-winners play non-winners. (There are no losers in our meet-up)
12. Once there is 1 clear undefeated player, they are declared the winner of the tournament and receive a prize. The tournament is over.

A mouthful, I know. But a lot simpler then I make it out to be and a lot easier to explain in person. The BEST PART of this event is that everything you "draft" you get to keep. The 3 packs we are going to use for this event are 3 packs of ALL FOIL CARDS. SO every card in this event will be foil/ holographic. WE ALL LOVE FOILS.

Last bits of information: there is a fee and a prize for this "Tournament".

Entry: $10 Prize: 1 Box of booster packs (normally split between the top 4 players)

Technically this is a "Tournament" that the store is running and not exactly a "Meet-Up". But, I put this particular tournament on the schedule with this meet-up group in mind. If you're scared this might not be your fortay, then feel free to just come down and hang-out and not play in this event. But, honestly, for only $10 bucks it's not a bad deal if you just "draft" cards you want for your collections and not even play in the event. PERSONALLY, I love these kinds of events because they are more casual and have cards from all different kinds of sets, old and new. The format is different from when you play with your own decks because the games are very different EVERY TIME.

In any case, if you have any questions you know how to reach me. See you soon!
